The Dyers are done!
After much longer than expected, Skimmer is restored and back home with Jim and Sherry. Like so much else this year, our restoration was impacted by the pandemic. What was supposed to be a weekend project where we all got together to work on the boat became much more challenging. But Skimmer is complete and looks fabulous. She’s ready for many more years on the water and I know her crew is looking forward to seeing how she performs at the 2021 Cupcake Cup.
Shiny new brass on the skeg.
Fresh paint, fresh varnish.
All the thwarts are new. The rail is new. The gunwale guard is new.
Resplendent with her shiny brightwork and fresh coat of Bikini Blue inside. Skimmer will be the loveliest belle at the dinghy dock.
Next up I’ve got some (more) varnishing to do, some kayak repair (the kayaks got battered by a late fall storm), and some home-improvement work.
